coaching mistakes made by Latroy Brace(high school coach)

I began to think about all of the topics I've done in the last posts trying to figure out how I could make the next post more interesting, so I started to think and I ended up coming up with the topic of coaching mistakes. When I came up with the topic I thought of who I could interview and it was my high school basketball coach Latroy Brace. The reason I chose my high school coach to interview is because he is one of those coaches who came from being an assistant coach at the previous school he was at before to becoming a head coach at Marlboro County High School(the school I went to for my last two years of high school), so I know he has made mistakes coaching. In the interview he described some of the mistakes he made becoming a head coach and one of the mistakes were him being disrespectful to his team to the point where his players would lose love for the sport itself and from me being on the team I can vouch that a lot of the players that we had on the team quit because they felt as if he was being disrespectful to them. From that mistake coach Brace said that he learned that he shouldn't disrespect his players and that he should encourage them to be better for themselves and their teammates. further into the interview he explained another mistake he made in his career of being a coach and it was him not being learnable and always thinks he was always right about everything and doesn't give any of the players room to correct him on what he has or was doing wrong. this is another mistake I can vouch for as well because I can remember back to when I was a junior in high school and we was having a losing season and we had a meeting before practice, so he lined us up and asked us "which one of you wants to be more than a player" and I was the one who was like "I would like to be more than a player on this team" not knowing what he meant by the question he asked and just as everyone else was about to answer the question everything stopped. after the awkward since he started saying things like "I'm the coach I don't have to listen to you" and saying "if you don't like it you can leave" after he said that I didn't say another word to him because clearly that's not how you supposed to act as a coach if you are trying to have a great team. Coach Brace learned from that mistake by listening to his players when he isn't right about things and now he knows that he needs to be learnable as well as being the teacher of the game.
